Strategy game fans continue to eat good with the newest expansion for Age of Wonders 4. The Archon Prophecy is out now ($24.99), completing Expansion Pass 2, alongside a free update to the base game. Plus, Triumph Studios have announced Expansion Pass 3, because the game, and the post-launch support, is just that darn good.

I should know; I’ve sunk about 100 hours into Age of Wonders 4 and haven’t even touched the last several expansions!

Archon Prophecy adds the new city-focused Architect Culture, capable of constructing magical monuments of different affinities to unlock bonuses. Plus two new forms to create custom factions with: the angelic Elysian, and creepy Ancient.

The expansion also adds four new Tomes to research, each related to fate and divinity, from invoking omens from the Tome of Prophecies to summoning celestial beings with Tome of the Archon. Plus, a new Hero Class that wields divine power, the Battlesaint, as well as a new Prophecy society trait that gives your empire a challenging vision quest.

Players can also explore the new content through two new Story Realms.

The Griffon Update adds a bevy of new features and improvements for everyone, including Flaws as Form Traits, reworked Magic Hero Classes, and improvements to AI combat difficulty and bonuses.

But wait, there’s more! Apparently Age of Wonders 4 continues to grow, as the developers have announced a third Expansion Pass! No details on its content have been announced.

Expansion Pass 2 also includes the Ways of War, and Giant Kings expansions. It’s now a “Last Chance” bundle, with dynamic (and discounted) pricing if you own any of the other DLCs. The first Expansion Pack is part of the Premium Edition, which also uses dynamic pricing.

Age of Wonders 4 is published by Paradox Interactive, which is known for supporting strategy games with dozens of updates and expansions over many years.

Age of Wonders 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X/S, and rated T for Teen. It’s currently discounted on Steam (20-40% off) with the Steam 4X Fest sale, ending August 18.
