I admit I’m a sucker for anything Marvel, but I’m having a blast with Marvel Mystic Mayhem, the new mobile release from NetEase Games. It’s free-to-play on iOS and Android mobile devices.
Mystic Mayhem is a tactical auto-battler, where players form a team of three heroes (or villains!) and battle through the twisted dream-scapes of Nightmare. Each hero has two abilities and an ultimate move that are manually activated via card draws and an auto-replenishing energy system. Abilities can be manually targeted, and certain enemies are weak to certain attacks.
Characters specialize in different roles and come in four different classes: Controller, Defender, Fighter, and Striker. As a gacha game, players can earn dreamshards and keys to pull new heroes. Duplicates make existing heroes stronger.
Aside from a campaign story mode, players can also take on waves of enemies, or big boss fights to earn rewards.
There are several free heroes players can unlock fairly quickly. Psylocke is free for all players thanks to the pre-registration milestone. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are unlocked as part of the 7-day login rewards (Day 2!), while Echo can be unlocked by completing a set of Daily Tasks.
By completing all of the 7-day mission tasks, players can unlock Storm. My queen!
The art design, animations, and voice work are all top notch, channeling the wonderful designs from Marvel Rivals.
Future heroic additions include the full Fantastic Four, coming next month.
Marvel Mystic Mayhem is free-to-play on iOS and Android mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
