Indie developer Racoon Logic have launched co-op sequel, Revenge of the Savage Planet, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Revenge of the Savage Planet is a sequel to 2021’s underrated Journey to the Savage Planet. The sequel switches from first-person to third person, and puts a larger emphasis on co-op, including adding split-screen local co-op. Nice!
The Savage Planet series is similar to Metroid Prime. Players gradually explore the world, unlocking new tools and abilities that grant access to new areas, with more puzzles and creatures and resources.
Like many sci-fi games, the series also features a humorous dose of capitalist satire, as the player has been abandoned by their cheeky company. Left on a hostile alien planet, the player (and a buddy), must scan, scavenge, blast, upgrade, and craft their way through multiple planets to return home.
“It almost doesn’t feel real – we’re so honored to share that Revenge of the Savage Planet has now launched on PC and console,” said Alex Hutchinson, Creative Director, Racoon Logic. “What was once a glimmer of an idea from a team who’d been kicked to the curb, is now a real, tangible thing that we can’t wait for you to explore. We hope you have half as much fun playing this game as we had making it, if it weren’t for you, the players, we wouldn’t be able to keep creating these weird (and hopefully wonderful) stories, so from the bottom of our raccoon hearts, thank you. Now go play, there are savage planets to explore!”
Revenge of the Savage Planet is rated T for teen. A PlayStation 4 version is also releasing “in the coming weeks.”
