Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two) have released their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, on PC (Steam, Epic Games, EA), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S ($49.99).

Split Fiction is a co-op-only adventure starring two writers, Mio and Zoe. The pair become trapped in a machine that’s trying to steal their creative ideas by dropping them into virtual reconstructions. Only by working together can they escape their own fantastical worlds.

Aside from the rivals-to-friends storyline, the writers specialize in different genres: fantasy, and science fiction. Throughout the story, they’ll fly on hoverboards, train dragons, and get into epic dance battles though a variety of platforming, racing, puzzles, and rhythm challenges.

“Split Fiction is filled with the wildest stuff you’ll ever see in a co-op game. The gameplay variety is insane and I’m incredibly proud of the level of polish that we managed to do,” said Josef Fares, Founder and Creative Director. “You’re going to visit some really incredible sci-fi and fantasy worlds, collaborate, and have a lot of fun – you guys are gonna love it.”

Split Fiction supports local multiplayer as well as online, using Friend’s Pass. Friend’s Pass only requires one player own the game, while inviting a partner to play for free. Multiplayer also supports cross platform between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Swedish game developers Hazelight Studios are known for making unique, co-op-only, and critically acclaimed adventures. Their last game, It Takes Two, won Game of the Year at the 2021 The Game Awards.

Split Fiction is available now, and rated T for Teen.
