One of the most anticipated games of the year, Monster Hunter Wilds is out now on Steam PC, PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro support), and Xbox Series X/S ($69.99).
Wilds is the sixth major entry in the Monster Hunter series, and a direct successor to 2018’s Monster Hunter World. The action series is defined by huge boss battle monster fights, carefully choreographed moves and abilities, and over a dozen weapon types and fighting styles. Wilds continues the trend of large zones, multiple monsters, and online co-op.
The story drops the new customizable Hunter protagonist on an Expedition Team to a new region called the Forbidden Lands. The region is beset by a powerful beast dubbed the White Wraith, also known as Arkveld.
In a first for the series, the protagonist is fully voiced, and joined by a slew of allies and supporting characters, from the smithy to the cute Palico.
The Forbidden Lands feature multiple biomes teeming with monsters, including the Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Oilwell Basin. For the first time in the series, each biome will shift through different seasons, changing the landscape, ecology, and monster behavior.
Hunters can traverse these lands with the new dinosaur-like Seikret mount, and change between two different weapons while in the middle of a hunt.
Capcom has previously supported Monster Hunter games through free updates. The first major update will arrive later this Spring, adding water-themed dragon Mizutsune to the roster.
Monster Hunter Wilds is rated T for Teen.
