London-based game studio Karta is celebrating a big milestone: reaching 100,000 players in their base-building rhythm game, Beat Builder. It helps that the game is available within Fortnite, and uses Fortnite’s art style and gameplay!

Beat Builder combines Fortnite’s familiar base-building and editing tools with electronica music, courtesy of NoCopyrightSounds. Players place walls, ramps, and floors to the beat of the music. Beat Builder also serves as an entertaining practice tool for quickly building in Fortnite.

Currently Beat Builder features three genres of electronic music: drumstep, phonk, and trap. I’m not sure I could identify what those are, but Karta hopes to include other genres such as K-pop and rock. New songs are added every month.

“We’re thrilled that Beat Builder has gotten off to such a great start. We wanted to create a rhythm game that felt 100 per cent Fortnite native, where the music is connected to the platform’s core building gameplay,” said Erik Londré, CEO, Karta. “A rhythm game that makes you a better gamer is an idea that excites us a lot.”

Karta has experience bridging the gap between artists and gaming, including working with artists to create their own music games within Roblox, such as Blackpink and Nicki Minaj.

Fortnite is also home to LEGO Fortnite. LEGO Fortnite continues to be one of the most popular game modes within the Fortnite platform, outside the main Battle Royale experience.

Beat Builder is available to play within Fortnite. Fortnite is free-to-download and play on PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and mobile devices. Fortnite is rated T for Teen (the music-only Beat Builder is rated E for Everyone).
