During the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Frostpunk publisher 11 bit studios announced Creatures of Ava, a single player creature-saving game (as opposed to battling) developed by Chibig and Inverge Studios, and co-created by writer Rhianna Pratchett. It’s releasing later this year on PC and Xbox Series X/S, including Game Pass.

Creatures of Ava stars explorer and researcher Vic as she works to save Ava, its inhabitants, and varied fauna, from a nasty infection called the withering.. Vic will need to embrace local customs and primal spirituality to save the alien world. Hey, it’s Avatar!

The planet will feature over 20 wild creatures and four colorful ecosystems, from the jungles to the swamps.

The nonviolent gameplay uses a flute to communicate with the local wildlife, including the ability to control and direct them while exploring the world. Even when the infection makes creatures aggressive, Vic’s mission is to restore, heal, and purify, not to attack and destroy. Also, belly rubs!

A specific release date has not yet been announced. Creatures of Ava is scheduled to release later this year on PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), and Xbox Series X/S. It’s rated E10+.
