Electronic Arts and Maxis have announced For Rent, the newest expansion for The Sims 4. For Rent will add multi-family dwellings and apartments for the first time in the series, as well as the new region of Tomarang when it launches on December 7 for PC (Origin, Epic Games Store, Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox.

The tropical city of Tomarang is inspired by the food, culture, and architecture of Southeast Asia. Tomarang features botanical gardens, animal sanctuary, Spirit House, and a Night Market lit by lanterns.

The big new feature is fully customizable, multi-family dwellings, allowing multiple Sim families to live on the same lot. The drama and chaos comes free.

These dwellings can be anything from a basement suite to a duplex or large apartment complexes.

Business-minded Sims can become Property Owners, Property Owner can live in the unit, or separately while still generating income. However, Owners have to watch their ratings and deal with things like mold and insects to keep their tenants happy, or face a possible revolt.

Property Owners can do visit inspections, maintain utilities, and host community events to maintain their approval rating.

The expansion also adds four new Aspirations (Seeker of Secrets, Five-Star Property Owner, Fount of Tomarani Knowledge, Discerning Dweller), five Traits, and a new Fear of being evicted.

If you pre-order or purchase the For Rent expansion before January 18, you will earn the Street Eats Digital Content as a bonus gift, which includes the night market grill cart.

The Sims 4: For Rent will release on December 7. The Sims 4 is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. It’s rated T for Teen.
