During this week’s PlayStation State of Play, Square Enix revealed the release date for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Rebirth will launch on PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024.

Watch the new release date trailer above.

Rebirth continues the Final Fantasy 7 story that began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Cloud, Aerith, Barret, and Tifa leave the city of Midgar and journey across the planet, stop Shinra, and defeat Sephiroth.

In addition to the main story, the world will feature dozens of hours of side quests and mini-games.

At some point Cloud rides a segway, which is hilarious to me.

During the journey they’ll meet new allies: Yuffie the ninja, Red XIII, an engineered beast, and Cait Sith, a cat-shaped robot.

We are finally able to announce the release date to all of you! We have been working tirelessly on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth since the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and we can’t wait for you to experience our labor of love.

In this title, Cloud and his friends, who have fled Midgar, will be setting out on an adventure across an expansive world of untold adventure in pursuit of Sephiroth, the legendary Soldier. While the main storyline is bigger and more ambitious than the previous game’s narrative, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also embraces the concept of “free exploration,” with compelling stories, fun mini-games, powerful monsters and so much more to find throughout the world map.

We hope you will explore this world in great detail, as nearly 100 hours of adventure await. We hope you will take this new Final Fantasy game experience in your own hands to enjoy. —Naoki Hamaguchi, game director

Rebirth is the second of the planned trilogy to remake Final Fantasy 7 (not including Intergrade). Rebirth is available to pre-order in standard, physical, deluxe, and collector’s editions.

Final Fantasy 7 is rated T for Teen.
