Free-to-play action-RPG Genshin Impact is getting a huge update. Version 3.1, also known as King Deshret and the Three Magi, releases on September 28, adding a new desert region and three new playable characters.

Within the desert region of Sumeru, travelers can find dungeons, puzzles, and ancient robotic guardians. Aaru Village is the largest settlement, and the quest hub for the region.

The update adds two new boss enemies. The Algrothim of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network doesn’t spell a fun acronym, but it leads the ancient mechanics guarding the site of an ancient king in Sumeru. The second boss is the Aeonblight Drake, which players can find in the nearby rainforest.

Three new playable characters hail from Sumeru.

Nilou is a five-star Hydro character who combines dancing with swordsmanship.

General Mahamatra Cyno is a battle-hardened, polearm-wielding Electro user, also at five stars.

The sole four-star newcomer is Candace, a descendant of King Deshret, and the guardian of the desertfolk of Aaru Village. She combines her polearm mastery with Hydro element.

Also coming in 3.1 is the annual Weinlesefest event in Mondstadt, with limited-time seasonal events and mini-games, along with a sizable login event just for jumping on.

Genshin Impact 3.1 will arrive on September 28. The RPG is free-to-download on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and iOs and Android mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
