Capcom released another Monster Hunter Digital Event video for the month of May, highlighting upcoming expansion Sunbreak for Monster Hunter Rise. The May 2022 Digital Event revealed three new monsters, the new Switch Skill Swap feature, new Follower Quests, and new Elder Dragon threat, Malzeno.
The new monsters coming in Sunbreak are Seregios, and two powerful variants: Aurora Somnacanth and Magma Almudron. Originally added in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Seregios is a flying wyvern with scales like sharpened blades, which can quickly inflict the bleed status on hunters. Auorara Somnacanth can release a freezing mist to nearby opponents, while Magma Almudron prefers sinking into the Lava Caverns and attacking with molten stone.
Elder Dragon Malzeno is a vampiric dragon that can inflict the unique bloodblight status, causing Malzeno to evolve into a more powerful form.
Switch Skills were a big part of Monster Hunter Rise, adding new moves for every single weapon type based on the new Wirebug feature. With Sunbreak, hunters will be able to create two different loadouts of skills and swap between them during a hunt. On May 16, official Monster Hunter channels will feature a series of videos exploring the swaps for each weapon.
Sunbreak also adds new Follower Quests. Follower Quests are single player hunts featuring members of Elgado Outpost as companion hunters, such as Fiorayne, Luchika, and Admiral Galleus, as well as members of Kamura Village such as Hinoa and Minoto. Hunters can earn exclusive rewards by completing Follower Quests, which are unlocked throughout the story.
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will launch on June 30 on Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam). It’s rated T for Teen.
