New Pokémon Snap is releasing on April 30 on Nintendo Switch. To celebrate the launch, mobile AR game Pokémon GO will feature a special crossover event, beginning April 29. The event is called New Pokémon Snap Celebration, which feels like a missed opportunity to call it Pokémon GO Snap. Ah well.

The New Pokémon Snap Celebration tasks trainers with catching Pokémon that appear in the Lental Region of New Pokémon Snap with a themed research task. Lental Pokémon will appear more often during the event, which include desert, jungle, and water-dwelling Pokémon such as Lotad, Cacnea, and Ducklett. The task will involve taking snapshots of wild Pokémon to help hone your picture-taking skills.

By completing the tasks, players will be able to encounter Smeargle, the Painter Pokémon. The luckiest trainers may even find a Shiny Smeargle. Camera-themed avatar items will also be available from the Pokémon GO style shop.

In New Pokémon Snap, trainers embark on a photography adventure to take pictures of wild and hidden Pokémon in the Lental region. It’s a spiritual successor to the beloved Nintendo 64 game, Pokémon Snap, which forgoes turn-based battles and Pokéballs in favor of a camera, and on-rails exploration.

The New Pokémon Snap Celebration only runs through the weekend, beginning April 29 and ending May 2. Pokémon GO is available for free on iOS and Android mobile devices. New Pokémon Snap will arrive on Switch on April 30. It’s rated E for Everyone
