During the Square Enix Presents livestream (above), Square Enix revealed several mobile games in development, including based on the Just Case and Hitman series, as well as the surprising reveal of a new Space Invaders mobile game using augmented reality technology.

Just Cause: Mobile brings the explosive, mayhem-filled action to the smallest screen. Players will be able to create and customize their own agent, as they’re sent on missions to thwart a villainous new global mercenary group, Darkwater. The campaign features cinematic cut scenes and full voice acting as players meet familiar characters from the Just Cause series, including series protagonist Rico Rodriguez. Players can embark on missions by themselves or with up to four players in cooperative multiplayer.

Just Cause: Mobile is launching later this year as a free-to-play mobile game on iOS and Android devices.

The development team behind popular mobile spin-offs Lara Croft GO, Hitman Sniper, and Deus Ex GO announced their latest mobile game, Project Hitman Sniper Assassins (working title). This new Hitman will feature an all new story, playable assassins, and gameplay features.

“Praised as one of the best mobile games available upon its release, Hitman Sniper raised the bar for player expectations of mobile sniper games,” said Dominic Allaire, executive producer, Square Enix Montréal. “Project Hitman Sniper Assassins will be an evolutionary leap forward for the genre, and we can’t wait for players to share our excitement when they get their hands on it in the coming months.”

Square Enix also revealed a new AR mobile game in collaboration with Taito based on the classic arcade shoot ’em up, Space Invaders. The untitled game will task players defending our world from an alien invasion using augmented reality.

“We are extremely inspired by our collaboration with TAITO to re-imagine the Space Invaders franchise in a contemporary way while shaping it to our ambitious vision of what it can be on mobile,” said Patrick Naud, Head of Studio, Square Enix Montréal “At Square Enix Montréal we are huge fans of the franchise and the team has risen to the challenge of showing how all-new technology can breathe fresh energy into a game as timeless as Space Invaders.”

No release date was announced, but the Space Invaders game will launch on iOS and Android. Players can register at the official website to receive updates.
