Free-to-play MMO action-RPG Phantasy Star Online 2 is now available on Steam. It’s launching alongside a major content update on both PC and Xbox One.

Episode Four continues the main story of the MMO, as players deal with an invasion of fake ARKS members as well as the discovery of a new planet – Earth. Hey, I know that planet!

Players will be able to travel to recognizable locations like Tokyo and Las Vegas and battle mysterious new enemies like Phantasms and the Mother Corps. Episode Four will also increase the level cap to 80, player slots of 20, and add a PSO2 Friend list that’s separate from Xbox Live.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is a popular MMO in Japan that recently arrived in the US earlier this year on the Windows Store and Xbox One. It includes four races and nine classes with more action-oriented combat compared to other MMORPGs.

“It is our goal to bring Phantasy Star Online 2 to as many players as we can,” said Fred White, PSO2 Head of Marketing. “We have heard the requests for a Steam launch, and we are excited to announce that soon Steam users in 36 countries on six continents will be able to experience PSO2 on their platform of choice, including popular features like Steam Achievements and Remote Play. The Steam Store page for PSO2 opens today. Additionally, all players on PC and Xbox One will be able to start Episode 4 on the same day.”

Phantasy Star Online 2 is also getting a much bigger update in the form of an entirely separate stand-alone game: New Genesis. New Genesis will feature a more open world designed and updated graphics engine, and will arrive next year.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is rated M for Mature.
