Square Enix has announced the release of mobile spin-off Dragon Quest of the Stars on the iOS App Store and Android Google Play. It’s free-to-download with in-app purchases, including a paid subscription.

Players can create their own custom Dragon Quest hero using designs from beloved artist Akira Toriyama. Level up, upgrade equipment, and change vocations to battle monsters and complete quests. The battle system using a turn-based skill gauge optimized for mobile, and skill and spells can be combined to unleash powerful combos.

Dragon Quest of the Stars supports up to four player multiplayer as players can team up to form parties and embark on quests together. Players can communicate via emotive stamps illustrated by artist Kanahei.

Square Enix is offering rewards for those who jump in early, including a free draw from a 10-Lucky Chest, and special login bonuses, including treasure maps and a special quest. For a limited time after launch, all players will earn double the experience from story and sub-quests.

Dragon Quest of the Stars, like most Dragon Quest games, has proven incredibly popular in Japan, with over 20 million downloads. It’s available now worldwide on mobile devices.
