Live-action Pokémon film Detective Pikachu hits theaters this Friday, May 10. To celebrate, Pokémon GO is featuring a Detective Pikachu promotion event from now until May 17.

The event includes a number of features that tie in to the film. Pokémon who are featured in the film (Charizard, Bulbasaur, Mr. Mime, Lickitung, etc) can be found more frequently in the wild. Select Pokémon from the film can also appear as raid battles.

“We’re excited for fans around the world to immerse themselves in the latest Pokémon adventure with Pokémon Detective Pikachu,” said J.C. Smith, Senior Director of Marketing, The Pokémon Company International. “We look forward to celebrating the first live-action film with fun new experiences in Pokémon GO.”

During the event you’ll receive double the experience for catching any Pokémon. While hunting you may be photo-bombed by Detective Pikachu himself. You can then try to catch the unique detective hat-wearing Pikachu.

Special themed Field Research will be available to give you goals to work towards.

Finally, you’ll be able to purchase Detective Pikachu apparel, including a t-shirt and detective hat, for your in-game avatars.

The Detective Pikachu event begins today at 1 pm Pacific/4 pm Eastern. It ends May 17 at the same time.

The event overlaps with another ongoing event in Pokémon GO. Three Legendary Pokémon from Sinnoh, Uxie, Mespirit, and Azelf, are available in challenge raids around the world. Which one you find depends on your region. Azelf is available in North and South America, Mespirit in Europe and the Middle East, and Uxie in Asia. There’s a very rare chance that the Legendary Pokémon can be found in different regions after the event ends on May 27.

Pokémon GO is available for free on iOS and Android mobile devices.
