The surprising new Mythical Pokémon addition, Meltan, was announced last month in Pokémon GO. It turns out Meltan can also be evolved into a much bigger, more powerful form called Melmetal. The catch is that it can only evolve in Pokémon GO.

In order to evolve a captured Meltan, you’ll need to catch a whole lot of them, or select one as your Buddy Pokémon to generate candy. Evolving Meltan requires 400 Meltan Candies. Trading with friends as well as sending Meltan to the upcoming Switch games Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! and Let’s Go, Pikachu! will also earn candy.

Melmetal remains a Steel type Pokémon, though its weight is increased by 100x. Its body hardens and it grows powerful arms it can use to swiftly punch opponents.

Melmetal can learn a unique Steel-type move called Double Iron Bash. Double Iron Bash deals a significant amount of damage and has a chance to cause the target to flinch and miss their turn.

Once evolved, Melmetal can be transferred to Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! and Let’s Go, Pikachu! on Switch.

Earning candy should be slightly easier with the upcoming Adventure Sync update. Adventure Sync is a new feature coming soon to Pokémon GO. It records walking distance even when Pokémon GO isn’t running. This lets you earn candy via the Buddy Pokémon as well as hatch eggs must faster. Adventure Sync can connect to both Apple Health on iOS and Google Fit on Android.

Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! and Let’s Go, Pikachu! are coming to Switch November 16.
