Civ Gets Smaller as Civilization VI Launches on iPhone
Posted by Eric Watson | Mobile, News | No CommentsLate last year 2K, Firaxis, and Aspyr Media launched Sid Meier’s Civilization VI on the iPad. Today Civ gets even more mobile as it officially launches on iPhone. It’s currently available at a special promo price of $23.99 (60% off). The sale ends October 16.
Civilization VI is a universal app, which means anyone who purchased it for iPad can download it to their iPhone for free (and vice-versa). The app is available for free with a 60-turn limit, with the in-app purchase to unlock the full game. The 60-turn demo only allows you to play as a single civ, and doesn’t feature more maps or game saving.
The mobile version of Civ 6 is the exact same as the PC game (hence the full game price) with a more mobile-friendly interface. It features the classic turn-based, empire-building, eon-spanning gameplay that makes it one of the most popular strategy game series of all time. Engage in tactical warfare on the hex grid world, plan out multiple districts in expanding cities, research centuries of technology and improvements, adopt social policies, and engage in diplomacy with world leaders.
Civ 6 on iOS features local multiplayer only. Quick scenarios are designed to be played and completed in a single session.
Civilization VI requires iOS 11.4.1 on iPhone 7 and above. The iPad version requires at least an iPad Air 2 or iPad Pro. The mobile version includes only the base PC game, though DLC packs have begun appearing on the app store as add-ons. The large expansion that released last year, Rise and Fall, has not yet been ported to mobile yet.
Civilization VI is available now on iPad and iPhone. The mobile version is developed by Aspyr Media. The 60% off sale runs until October 16. Civ 6 is rated E10+.
Firaxis Games, 2K, and Aspyr Media have announced Sid Meier’s Civilization VI arrival on the iOS App Store today. It’s only available for new-ish iPads and downloaded for free, with…
