Indie studio Double Stallion Games has revealed Surfpunk, a co-op action-RPG where players travel between islands on surfboards before a gigantic tsunami sweeps them away.

Honestly, it looks like co-op Hades. With surfing. Radical!

Check out the full gameplay trailer below.

In Surfpunk, players play as Raiders completing dangerous island-hopping missions to grab loot before an epic wave crashes over everything. The islands are swarming with inky monsters called Sumi, forcing players to work together in hack-and-slash combat.

Surfing isn’t just for the sweeping end, however. The ocean, and surfing, is an important part of gameplay, including towing the loot, hurling barrels, and saving fellow Raiders with your Rushboard.

Up to four players can jump into the action together, choosing from different classes and customizing their loadout (and their personal Rushboard). During missions Raiders battle Sumi, travel to islands, and grab the critical energy needed for the large home base ship, the Beastship.

Between missions, players can upgrade their gear and plan their next procedurally generated run from the Beastship.

The colorful art style and island theme definitely stands out. And who doesn’t love a solid co-op action-RPG?

Surfpunk is coming to Steam PC, though a release date has not yet been announced.
