Paradox Interactive and developer C Prompt Studios have released the first DLC expansion for 4X strategy game Millennia. Millennia: Ancient Worlds ($9.99) is available now, and included in the Millennia expansion pass ($24.88).

Ancient Worlds expands the early phases of the strategy game. Like, end of the Ice Age early! Early human travelers must scavenge for resources and fend off megafauna. New frozen tundra terrain soon melts into grasslands, and humanity is able to settle down.

By starting as a tribal band, players can start with the new Band Society government. The new National Spirit, Messengers, emphasizes early game diplomacy through gifts and trade. The DLC also adds over ten new real world landmarks, such as Mount Jianglang, and the Great Redwood Forest.

Millennia is a turn-based strategy game that spans the course of human history. Yeah, it’s like Civilization. Or Humankind. It’s good to have options when it comes to historical 4X strategy games! Millennia differs in its National Spirits that define each player’s culture and history, combined with distinct Ages.

Meanwhile, Civilization 7 is due out next year.

The Millennia expansion pass also includes a tiny cosmetic pack, and a future DLC release, Atomic Ambitions, releasing later this year.

Millennia is available on PC (Steam).
