Nintendo released a new trailer, “Traversing Hyrule,” for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. The trailer delves deeper into Princess Zelda’s unique powers and how she can maneuver around Hyrule’s obstacles and foes.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is launching September 26.
The familiar kingdom of Hyrule is on full display in the new trailer, from Hyrule Castle to the Gerudo Desert and the Jabul Waters. Zelda will meet familiar denizens like the rock-eating Goron and water-dwelling Zora, solving puzzles and completing quests.
By wielding the Tri Rod, Zelda can capture and unleash echoes of objects and creatures — as showcased in the first reveal trailer. Once she echoes a carrot, Zelda can summon a faithful horse companion to swiftly move around Hyrule. Echoes of Wisdom will also feature convenient fast-travel using waypoints.
Another new feature is Zelda’s ability to bind creatures and objects. With the help of new companion Tri, Zelda can bind an object, forcing it to mirror her movement. This allows her to move objects out of the way, or follow a set path.
She can also use “reverse bind,” allowing a creature or object to carry her to new areas — even flying creatures. Binding and echoes grant an impressive degree of open-ended puzzle-solving. Zelda’s shaping up to be a much different, and perhaps more interesting protagonist than Link!
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on Sept. 26. Pre-orders are available now. It’s rated E 10+.
