Square Enix and UK developer Futurlab have a surprise hit on their hands with PowerWash Simulator. Since its early access debut in 2021 and release in 2022, the first-person cleaning sim has bottled up over 12 million players, with half of them joining over the last year.

PowerWash Simulator also added over half a dozen fun DLC crossovers over the years, such as Tomb Raider, SpongeBob SquarePants, and most recently, Warhammer 40,000.

Who needs to pilot marine armor and mechs when you can hose ’em down instead?

In PowerWash Simulator, players take on the role of a professional cleaner, taking on jobs around the town of Muckingham to earn money, and upgrade their gear. The first-person cleaner features a single player campaign (with a story!) and cooperative multiplayer for up to six players.

To celebrate the milestone, FuturLab has unveiled a fancy new website.

The 2024 roadmap began with the Warhammer 40,000 DLC, and will include at least two more paid DLC packs, as well as more free seasonal content throughout the year.

“We are continuously in awe of the impact our game has made on people,” said Kirsty Rigden, CEO, FuturLab. “Now with a staggering 12 million players, it’s clear that there’s a desire for games like PowerWash Simulator that provide a soothing sense of satisfaction – and we intend to make them! To mark this new direction for the studio, we’re excited to reveal our new website.”

PowerWash Simulator has a coveted Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam with nearly 40,000 reviews.

It’s available on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox, and rated E for Everyone.
