Capcom has released the remaster of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One ($29.99).
The puzzle-adventure stars Sissel, a recently murdered detective who takes up the case of his own murder using his newfound ghost powers. By moving through time and possessing objects, Sissel can change the fate of many other victims and mysteries.
The original version released on Nintendo DS in 2011 in North America. It was developed by Shu Takumi, best known for the prolific Ace Attorney series.
The new remaster features high-resolution graphics and better frame rate for modern platforms. It also includes new challenges and trophies, improved interface, and several quality of life improvements. Extra goodies include a newly arranged soundtrack (with option to use the original) and a picture gallery with never-before-seen concept art.
Ghost Trick was popular in Japan but never reached the heights of Ace Attorney. If this remaster does well, perhaps we could see an entirely new game using the same ghost-puzzling mechanics.
A free demo features the first chapter of the story, with progress carrying over to the full game. By playing the demo, players can earn an in-game background and music track in the full game.
