The surface of the Earth has become uninhabitable, driving humankind beneath the sea, where we promptly keep trying to kill each other. Aquanox: Deep Descent is an underwater first-person shooter where you pilot a heavily armed submersible. It’s arriving October 16th on PC, for $29.99.
Aquanox includes a single-player campaign that supports drop in co-op with up to four players online. Each player can play as one of four distinct pilots, each of who have a role to play in the story.
Players can customize their ships by choosing different hulls and outfitting them with six different primary weapons, each of which can be further modified to create your perfect underwater killing machine.
It’s not all pew-pewing, however. Resources are scare under the sea, and pilots will need to spend time between battles exploring and salvaging resources.
If you prefer to blast your friends into bubbly smithereens, Aquanox also supports player vs player multiplayer modes, including deathmatch and team deathmatch.
Deep Descent is a “re-imagining” of the original AquaNox series from the early 2000s, all of which were underwater, vehicular shooters. Deep Descent is a resurrection of the franchise by developer Digital Arrow and publisher THQ Nordic following a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Aquanox: Deep Descent is out October 16 on PC (Steam). It’s rated T for Teen for Blood, Mild Language, and Violence.
