Fortnite Season 9 has officially kicked off for Fortnite Battle Royale, Save the World, and Creative modes. It adds a futuristic new location, new wind-based transportation, and of course a new Battle Pass to purchase and unlock cosmetics.
The Volcano has been completely destroyed, but instead of an apocalyptic wasteland, a utopian futuristic city has appeared in place of Tilted Towers, now known as Neo Tilted. Retail Row has been transformed into the Mega Mall. And in the future, apparently people travel via air tunnels. Players can enter these slipstreams to quickly zip around the map. Your speed and angle can be controlled in these wind tunnels as you’re launched when exiting. Projectiles and vehicles can also enter slipstreams.
As has been the case since the first Battle Pass, the season nine Battle Pass can be purchased for 950 V-Bucks (~$10) to start unlocking the 100 tiers of new cosmetic items. Purchasing the pass instantly unlocks the Sentinel and Rox skins. You can buy a Battle Bundle for 2,800 V-Bucks which unlocks the first 25 tiers of items to get a head start. Tiers can be individually purchased for 150 V-Bucks each.
Season nine also adds a new collectible called Fortbytes. Fortbytes will gradually be added as the season progresses, with 18 available today and one added every day after that. Fortbytes are only collectable by Battle Pass owners, and collecting them reveals more of a mysterious image and earns unique rewards. Fortbytes are exclusive to season nine and will disappear after the season ends.
