Square Enix has released Final Fantasy XV for iOS, Android, and Amazon devices. It’s called Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, and includes the full game, built for mobile devices.
The art style has been changed from photo-realistic to polygonal. New touchscreen controls have been implemented.
The mobile game is divided into chapters, with the first chapter free to download and play. The rest of the chapters can be purchased individually or as a bundle. Chapters two and three cost $0.99, while Chapters 4-10 are $3.99 each. You can purchase the full game with all 10 chapters for $19.99.
Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition requires iOS 11.1 or later and iPhone 6s or later. For tablets it requires iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini4, or a 5th gen iPad. Android devices require Android 5.0. Both devices will need to devote 5 GB of space, or 8 GB for the optional high resolution version.
Final Fantasy XV originally launched in Fall 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Despite its lengthy, somewhat troubled development it was well-received by critics and fans.
Square Enix released periodic DLC packs for Final Fantasy XV throughout 2017, including a multiplayer expansion. Coming March 6 is the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition for PC. The Windows Edition will include all released DLC as well as new features like a first-person camera mode. Existing console owners can digitally upgrade to the Royal Edition to receive all these goodies at a discounted price.
Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition is rated T for Teen for Language, Mild Blood, Partial Nudity, and Violence.
