Digital Eclipse and Atari have released two Toy Story games to celebrate the series 30th anniversary: Toy Story: Retro Roundup, and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition. Both games are available now on Steam PC, PlayStation, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox consoles. A combined physical edition is also available for Switch, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.

Toy Story 3 Complete edition is an enhanced remaster of the beloved 2010 platformer, with upgraded visuals and improved performance. Toy Story 3 was praised for not only recreating the film’s locations in Story Mode, but also through its open world Toy Box Mode.

Toy Box Mode unlocked gameplay and characters, letting players explore different areas, complete missions, swap characters, and unlock new content. Basically, a modern LEGO game!

Gameplay also supports local co-op multiplayer for up to two players. With accessible controls and low-pressure, Toy Story 3’s Toy Box Mode is particularly well-built for younger gamers.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup is a compilation that includes five older Toy Story games — and one bonus game:

  • Toy Story (1995)
  • Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (1999)
  • Toy Story 2 (1999)
  • Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000)
  • Toy Story Racer (2001)
  • A Bug’s Life (1998)

Not sure how or why A Bug’s Life sneaked in there, other then it’s another Pixar-based platformer, but sure!

Retro Roundup includes several modern quality of life features for each game, including instant rewind, save and load anywhere, new How to Play guides, and a new Practice mode. Plus, high resolution support, or the option to play in the original PS1 presentation for most of them.

The compilation also includes new behind-the-scenes video featurettes and interviews.

“These games capture everything that made Toy Story magical: adventure, imagination, humor and heart,” said Mike Mika, Studio Head, Digital Eclipse. “Whether you’re reliving childhood memories or discovering them for the first time, there’s nothing quite like hearing ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ and being back in Andy’s room. We couldn’t be more excited to finally put these classics back into players’ hands, and to experience the magic of Toy Story all over again.”

“Toy Story remains one of our most cherished and enduring franchises, and these classic games have continued to be fan-favorites throughout the years,” said Luigi Priore, VP and GM, Disney & Pixar Games. “I worked on the original games thirty years ago, and being part of this franchise ever since makes revisiting them now feel especially meaningful. We’re thrilled for a new generation of fans to experience these original games and connect with the world of Toy Story beyond the films.”

Toy Story 3 Complete Edition ($24.99) and Toy Story: Retro Roundup ($29.99) are available as separate digital purchases. The physical edition combines them for $39.99 on PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2. Games are rated E10+ with Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence.
