Clear River Games, in partnership with Taito Corporation, announced that 2019’s Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is coming to Switch 2 with enhanced visuals and a new expansion. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back! Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Stardrop Mountain (yes, that’s the full title) will release soon on Switch 2.
The tale of the bubble-spouting dinosaurs (or dragons?) began way back on arcades in the 1980s as fun co-op puzzle platformers. Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is basically a remake of the original game (including all the original stages), with an all new story campaign and new stages, and expanding the local couch co-op from two to four players (Bub and Bob are joined by Peb and Pab).
Our cute heroes spit bubbles to create new platforms, and trap enemies. Collect special EXTEND bubbles to unlock new skills, or gain extra lives.
The Baron is Back, a post-launch update added in 2020, adds even more content, with 100 challenging post-campaign stages, and the return of villain Baron von Blubba.
But wait, there’s more!
The Stardop Mountain is an entirely new expansion exclusive to Switch 2. Stardrop Mountain adds even more stages, and the villain Invaduh.
The Switch 2 edition supports HD 1080p resolution, and the Camera Play feature, allowing players to take pics and use headshots in the game.
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back! Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Stardrop Mountain (whew) is coming to Switch 2. A release date is yet to be announced. The original Bubble Bobble 4 Friends: The Baron is Back is also available on Steam PC, PlayStation, and Switch 1. It’s rated E for Everyone.
