Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have released tactical-strategy RPG, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, for Nintendo Switch 2. It’s the first game in the series designed exclusively for Switch 2.
Set within the same world as 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the player protagonist travels from an apocalyptic future five years from now, in which a demon has destroyed the world. Their job is to ensure the success of four fated Flame Lords, who are participants in the international Heroic Games.
The Heroic Games are a series of gladiatorial battles that span multiple months, and serve as the first major arc of the game. Each of the four characters are playable, and have their own motivations, and story campaigns that interweave with one another.
The Flame Lords are also capable of unleashing powerful Blaze Arts that drain their hit points for major effects. Filling the Blaze Gauge rewards power, but maxing it out completely leads to Burst, weakening the hero.
Between matches, players can explore in and around the city of Dagsion, and recruit allies, fight monsters, and explore dungeons across the world map. Exploring dungeons uses a new party-based version of the classic Fire Emblem tactical army battles, which are used in the bigger Match battles.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is out now on Switch 2. It’s rated T for Teen with Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, and Use of Alcohol.
