During Gamescom 2026, Kabam and developer Herobeat Studios announced a Spring 2027 1.0 release window for action-creature collector, Wilderings: The Lost Spring. Gamescom also saw the debut of a new trailer featuring the Volcanic biome, and its reigning boss monster.
Wilderings combines third-person action, creature collecting, and roguelite progression in a fight against corrupted creatures.
Playing as Abi, players explore the open world and find Hantu, special native creatures that unlock new abilities and powers. Hantu are used in and out of combat to defeat enemies with elemental attacks, and traverse the world via wings, grappling, wall-running, and more.
The new trailer shows off Hantu native to the Volcanic Region, all of which deal fiery damage in different ways, from explosive projectiles, to a rain of fire.
The Volcanic Region is playable via special demo at Gamescom, but everyone else can play the updated demo on Steam, which features the Grasslands and Wetlands biomes.
Between runs, Abi can chill at the Skyship, your mobile base of operations. There you unlock permanent upgrades, and enhance the Hantu to become stronger.
Judging by the Steam Store page, it looks like Wilderings will first launch into Early Access this Fall, for around six months. The Early Access will elicit feedback on combat, balancing, progression, and exploration.
