LEGO and The Pokémon Company announced a dozen new sets in the LEGO Pokémon series — all of which utilize the LEGO SMART Play System.
LEGO SMART Play uses the LEGO SMART Brick and SMART Tags, which transform the building block toys into responsive electronics, without any screens.
To start, you’ll want one (or both) of the All-in-One sets, which include a SMART Brick, charger, and four Tags:
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Training House with Pikachu All-In-One set (6+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle (8+)
The other ten sets are designed to expand the larger ones, featuring SMART Tags, but not the Bricks:
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Berry Bash with Bulbasaur and Bidoof (7+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Trainer’s Buggy Adventure with Squirtle (6+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Charmander and Geodude’s Cavern Clash (6+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly Battle (8+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Jigglypuff Concert (7+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Drone Search for Mythical Mew (8+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Eevee and Lapras’ Treasure Hunt (8+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Mewtwo’s Lab Break (10+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Umbreon vs Garchomp Championship Battle (10+)
- LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Cubone and Gengar’s Spooky Showdown (8+)
“We are thrilled to bring together two beloved brands that are known worldwide. For the first time ever, LEGO Pokémon creatures respond to children’s actions: meaning fans can build, train and interact with their LEGO Pokémon creatures through hands-on, imaginative play that encourages creativity, confidence and storytelling,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at the LEGO Group. “LEGO SMART Play™ is an expansion of our existing LEGO System-in-Play and we are excited to integrate it into our latest LEGO Pokémon sets. It’s all about inviting children to explore, experiment and bring their own ideas to their adventures!”
Pre-orders are available now. Prices range from $14.99 to $119.99. Sets will release on August 1 on LEGO.com and retailers. LEGO unveiled its first-ever LEGO Pokémon sets earlier this year.
