Two years after first announcing Mouse: P.I. For Hire, Fumi Games and PlaySide Studios have finally released the retro-inspired, first-person shooter on PC, PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox ($29.99).

Mouse: P.I. For Hire is striking for its 1930s animated art style (hello, Cuphead!), also known as rubber hose art. But it goes even further with the entire game in black and white! Not only that, Mouse: P.I. is also inspired by the noir genre of the 30s and 40s, with gritty action, voice-over narration, gun-toting gangsters, and a jazzy soundtrack.

The first-person shooter stars fan favorite voice actor Troy Baker (best known as Joel in The Last of Us, and Nathan Drake in Uncharted) as main protagonist Jack Pepper, which is just a fabulously awesome noir-hero name. Jack takes on an epic case that takes him through 20 levels filled with guns, goons, and powerups.

“When we first shared the concept video of a 1930s cartoon video game that was also a first-person shooter, we had no idea that it would resonate so much with players and eventually turn into what MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has become,” says Mateusz Michalak, CEO & Founder, Fumi Games. “With over 1.6 million wishlists, we are extremely excited for fans across the world to finally play the game we have worked so hard on. A handcrafted tale born of ink, sweat, and stubborn dreams. From the bottom of our grinning hearts, thank you for supporting us. We hope you enjoy your time in Mouseburg”.

A Digital Deluxe Edition is also available on Steam ($39.99), which includes access to the first DLC expansion (coming at a later date), as well as the soundtrack, and digital comic book.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire is out now on Steam, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S, and rated T for Teen.
