Warner Bros. Games made a surprise and rare announcement in the gaming world: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is releasing one week earlier than originally announced. Legacy of the Dark Knight is now launching on May 22 (instead of May 29) on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The Switch 2 version is launching later this year.
The family-friendly, action-adventure game is available for pre-order in Standard and Deluxe Editions. The Deluxe Edition still includes 72-hour early access, which will now unlock on May 19. The Deluxe Edition also includes the Legacy Collection, featuring cosmetic batsuits and Batcave props, as well as the Mayhem Collection DLC (featuring a villain campaign with playable Harley and Joker), launching later in September.
All pre-orders will receive the Dark Knight Returns batsuit at launch. All players can unlock the Golden Age Batsuit by creating a Warner Bros. Games account (or already having one).
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an open world action-adventure game that draws inspiration from decades of Batman lore, comic books, television, animation, games, and feature films.
It features an all-new combat system inspired by the Batman Arkham games, including combos and stealth techniques, and an optional, more advanced difficulty mode called Dark Knight Mode.
Unlike most LEGO video games that feature dozens of unlockable characters, Legacy of the Dark Knight distills down to seven primary playable characters: Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul. Each character has special abilities, combos, weapons, and gadgets, and can be customized with over 100 different suits and outfits.
Thankfully, LEGO Batman still carries the co-op legacy of other licensed LEGO video games, supporting two-player local couch co-op.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will release on May 22 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, with a Switch 2 version launching at a later date. It’s rated E10+.
