Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is out now on Steam PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
Twisted Reflection tells the story of two kingdoms on the brink of war, Azuria and Vermeil, and a destined monster egg that hatches twin Rathalos. Playing as the Prince or Princess of Azuria, the player captains the Ranger Squad to protect monster eggs and battle back against a mysterious ecological disaster known as the Crystal Encroachment.

Monster Hunter Stories is a spinoff series where players are monster trainers instead of hunters. Like Pokémon and many other creature collectors, players acquire and develop their monster allies and battle others in turn-based combat.
The battle system is reminiscent of simple rock-paper-scissor with Power, Speed, and Technical moves, and unleash powerful Synchro Rush coordinated attacks.
While exploring the world, players can use their Monstie’s Riding Actions to reach new places, including climbing, gliding, and flying. For the first time in the series, players must help support each region’s ecosystem through Habitat Restoration, releasing monsters into the wild and increasing the power of future monster eggs found there.
The Monster Hunter Stories series has come a long way since its humble beginnings on the Nintendo 3DS in 2017, followed by the sequel, Wings of Ruin, for Nintendo Switch in 2021. The original game was also remastered in 2024 for modern consoles.
The dragon-like Rathalos always plays a key role (the Pikachu of the Monster Hunter franchise, if you will), but otherwise the games feature new stories and characters. We’ve enjoyed the previous games as solid, kid-friendly JRPGs.
In addition to the Standard Edition ($69.99), Monster Hunter Stories 3 is also available in Deluxe and Premium Deluxe Editions. The Deluxe Edition includes Additional Side Story: Rudy, Special Outfit DLC, and the Deluxe Kit. The Premium Deluxe Edition also includes additional cosmetic DLC pack. A free demo is also available.
