Atari and Digital Eclipse are bringing The Disney Afternoon Collection to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, with two new games exclusive for Nintendo, on February 26.

The pre-order announcement trailer features the amazing Moon theme from DuckTales, heck yes.

The Disney Afternoon Collection originally dropped back in 2017 on Steam, PS4, and XBO. The anthology includes six classic licensed games from the 8-bit NES era: DuckTales (and its sequel), Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers (and the sequel), TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck.

The collection should not be confused with Disney Classic Games, which brought back the also mostly-good 16-bit games inspired by Disney feature films.

The new Switch version adds two more Disney Channel-inspired games, this time from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Goof Troop (1993), and Bonkers (1994), bringing the total number of retro games to eight. This is the first time either SNES game has been officially brought to modern systems.

I absolutely adored DuckTales (1989) and Rescue Rangers (1990) as a young kid (and was super terrible at the auto-scrolling TaleSpin), but I have honestly zero recollection of Goof Troop or Bonkers. By then I was happily playing meatier games such as Super Metroid, Final Fantasy 6, and the gluttony of fighting games.

Fun Fact: Goof Troop was one of the first games by Shinji Mikami, who would go on to direct Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 at Capcom, and later founded PlatinumGames (Vanquish) and Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within).

While not remasters, the games included in The Disney Afternoon Collection feature many modern upgrades, such as a Rewind feature, art gallery, music player, and the ability to save your game progress anywhere (young me would have killed for that!).

Fans can also pre-order the physical edition via Atari.com (or major retailers). The physical edition includes two sticker sheets, three collectible cards, and eight “retro milk caps.” Pogs!? They’re back!

The Disney Afternoon Collection is rated E for Everyone.
