The Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available via the Nintendo eShop ($64.99), as well as an Upgrade Pack ($4.99) for players who already own the popular life sim on the original Switch.

The Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons features enhanced resolution, support for the microphone, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, and expanded online multiplayer.

Slumber Island is where up to 12 players can work together to build their own island, using furniture, items, and residents they’ve previously unlocked. All players must have the Switch 2 edition. A Nintendo Online Membership is also required for online play.

The free 3.0 update adds a new resort hotel run by Kapp’n and his family. Players can decorate guest rooms and select outfits for visitors to their island by dressing up mannequins in the hotel. Guests can be seen visiting your island’s facilities, or just strolling along the beach.

By successfully attracting guests and crafting DIY island goods, players can earn hotel tickets. Hotel tickets are then exchanged at the souvenir shop for exclusive items.

The resort also functions as a teaser for the Happy Home Paradise DLC, where players create entire vacation homes for their clients. The DLC is sold separately, or included as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

Other new features in 3.0 include Resetti’s Reset Service to help de-clutter an island, and expanded storage space with room for up to 9,000 items. The new update also adds special amiibo support, including special unlocked content with Legend of Zelda and Splatoon figures.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons released in 2020 on the original Switch, and remains one of its most endearing games. It’s now available on Switch 2, and rated E for Everyone.
