Marvel’s most irreverent anti-hero, Deadpool, is officially joining the roster of competitive hero shooter, Marvel Rivals. Deadpool arrives as part of the big Season 6 update, which also adds a new map, a higher Hero Proficiency cap with new rewards, and a new Battle Pass.

Marvel Rivals Season 6: Night at the Museum, launches on January 16.

Deadpool arrives as a unique triple-role hero, and the gameplay trailer is an insanely chaotic mess of visual clutter. Which feels totally appropriate for the Merc with a Mouth!

Deadpool can swap between Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist during a match, as well as choose his own powers and upgrades. Despite the flexibility, teams in Quick and Competitive modes are still limited to one Deadpool per side.

Also, is that Devil Dinosaur on the Season 6 promo image? Can we please get Devil and Moon Girl as a Cloak & Dagger-style dual hero next?

Of course, the fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool himself introduces his own character via the latest Dev Vision update.

The new convoy map, Museum of Contemplation, releases a bit later on January 29.

The popular social hub, Times Square, is getting more content in Season 6, including a photo mode, and the ability to duel other players (also arriving Jan. 29).

Hero Proficiency, which is basically leveling up heroes and getting rewards, is getting a big upgrade in Season 6. The cap is being raised for each hero alongside new rewards, including Units, Molecules, Nameplates, Titles, Badges, and more.

Balance changes in Season 6 include buffs to Hulk, Captain America, and Doctor Strange, and nerfs to Valkyrie, Gambit, and Daredevil.

Also, sad news that Marvel Zombies is finally going away (after getting several extensions). But there’s good news: NetEase Games is promising a “brand-new PvE mode” coming in the first half of the year.

Marvel Rivals is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and rated T for Teen.
