Square Enix has released a lengthy free demo of upcoming RPG remake, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. The demo is available now, with the full game launching on Feb. 5 on PC (Steam, Microsoft), PlayStation, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

The demo features “several hours of content” from the opening areas of the RPG. Players who play the demo can carry over their save data into the full game on the same platform.

Plus, players can earn an exclusive reward from playing the demo, Maribel’s Day Off Dress outfit. You don’t have even have to play the demo all the way through to earn the outfit.

Square Enix has also released the new opening movie cinematic:

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is the fully 3D remake of the classic 2000 RPG, Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Though overly long, it’s still considered one of the top games in the storied franchise. The massive RPG has our heroes exploring new monster-filled islands by zipping back in time to right wrongs, and seeing how these changes affect the present day.

We previously reviewed Dragon Quest 7 when it was remade on the 3DS in 2016.

The remake keeps the beloved character and monster designs from Akira Toriyama while moving into a 3D art style, and diorama-inspired worlds and dungeons. The game features additional side quests and minigames, and a new Moonlighting systems allows players to use two vocations (classes) at once.

Pre-orders for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined are available for the Standard ($59.99) and Deluxe Edition ($74.99). The Digital Deluxe Edition includes 48 hours of early access, and three DLC packs. It’s rated E10+.
