Earlier this year, tabletop publisher Ravensburger announced their newest Horrified co-op game would crossover with Dungeons & Dragons. Now we’ve got more details regarding the new installment to the horror co-op series, including the confirmed cast of villainous monsters.

Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons includes four iconic monsters from the D&D universe.

The red dragon is the most classic of the many flavors of dragons in D&D, spewing fire and generally wrecking havoc. The panther-like displacer beast is much more subtle, using illusory powers to trick its victims (as see in the Honor Among Thieves D&D film!).

Rounding out the cast are the trickster shape-shifting mimic, which makes every adventurer think twice before opening a tantalizing chest. Finally there’s the beholder, the most D&D of D&D monsters, with its floating spherical body, huge jagged maw, and many spell-casting eyes.

Looks like my earlier Horrified: D&D monster predictions were totally wrong, though I did mention the red dragon. That just goes to show how many famous monsters are in D&D!

Each monster will feature a puzzle the party must complete before being able to defeat them. The red dragon features a two-part puzzle involving the Orb of Dragonkind.

In a single game of Horrified, players will choose one of five hero classes: bard, cleric, fighter, rogue, or wizard, and use their abilities and cooperation to defeat two of the monsters.

In a nod to its dice-chucking gameplay, Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons will utilize a d20 die to activate character abilities.

Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons is the fifth game in the Horrified series. It’s designed for one to five players, and ages 10 and up.

The co-op board game will be featured in an episode of Everything is Content from role-playing superstars, Critical Role. The Horrified stream will air on Tuesday, June 24, at 7pm Pacific/10pm Eastern on Twitch.

Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons is available now for pre-order at Target, with an August 10 release date ($29.99).
