Indie developer Blue Isel Studios announced Guardians of the Wild Sky, a new survival-crafting adventure, will release later this Summer on Steam.
Guardians of the Wild Sky draws in elements of Palworld with tamable creatures. Each creature has its own abilities, and creatures can be combined to create more powerful versions. Plus, form powerful bonds to transform into them. Take that, Aniimo!
The game’s unique element is the wind and sky. The open world features “thousands of sky islands” that can be explored via craftable airships — like building a flying house with wings. I really like the angle of taking your ever-important base, storage hub, and crafting station with you on-the-go while exploring the world.
The world features evil factions, titanic beasts, secret treasures, weather patterns, climate, and a day-night cycle. Not to mention trying to catch ’em all and discover new Guardians.
Like any open world survival craft adventure, Guardians is built for co-op. Players can play solo with offline mode, or create custom multiplayer servers. Recommended player count rests at five, though servers can support more players.
“We set out to build a world worth getting lost in, and Guardians of the Wild Sky is the game we’ve always dreamed of making,” states Alex Tintor, founder, Blue Isles Studios. “The game is truly enormous in scope, combining some of the best features from our favorite genres, all wrapped up in a beautiful art style. Why not build a castle that can fly from island to island in the skies?”
Guardians of the Wild Sky is due out in Q3 2025 on Steam. It’s also launching later on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
