Tomorrow Corporation and developer 2DBOY have released World of Goo 2 on Steam, PlayStation 5, and iOS and Android mobile devices. It’s also available on Nintendo Switch, and other digital PC stores (Epic, GOG).
World of Goo 2 build upon the physics-based 2D puzzling of the original hit indie game, World of Goo. I was shocked to remember that World of Goo originally released in 2008! Back when Steam itself was a wee infant.
In case you’re unfamiliar, players must guide their wide-eyed, slimy goo balls from one side of a level to the other. The industrious goo can use their amorphous shapes to build bridges and towers as they struggle with that pesky force known as gravity.
It looks like the sequel’s story picks up after the first game, with our intrepid goo exploring an alien world of their own.
The new platform release also includes three new “extremely difficult” challenge levels, over 30 new achievements, and, hilariously, an options menu. Fancy!
The sequel also includes a special soundtrack featuring nearly two hours of music from over 50 guest musicians. The soundtrack is sold separately, and as a bundle with the game. Existing versions of World of Goo 2 will receive the new content as a free update.
World of Goo 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and mobile. It’s rated T for Teen with Mild Suggestive Themes and Mild Violence.
