Team Xbox hosted a Developer Direct today for four big games coming to PC and consoles later this year — including the newly announced Ninja Gaiden 4. Oh, and a remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2!

The direct focused on the developers themselves, as they revealed various aspects of their games, as well as present new game footage and trailers.

Check out the ultra-quick 1-minute recap video above. See below for the longer footage of each game.

DOOM: The Dark Ages

The Dark Ages is a prequel to Doom (2016), dropping the Doom Slayer in a dark fantasy warzone of demons, guns, and brutal melee weapons. The combat and gameplay is much more grounded, but still fast-paced, compared to the verticality of Doom: Eternal. The Slayer can wield three different melee weapons, as well as the powerful Shield Saw, in addition to a multitude of nasty guns. Id software promises their best DOOM game ever, and judging by the footage, we’re inclined to believe them.

South of Midnight

We finally get a release date for Compulsion Games’ next project after We Happy Few. South of Midnight is a brand new, third-person action-adventure that explores the Deep South. The story unfolds in a supernatural bayou after a hurricane, starring a young woman named Hazel with extraordinary powers. We’re really digging the music, the voice acting, and the whole vibe of this unique world.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Who says JRPGs have to be made in Japan? The French developers at Sandfall Interactive are excited about their new turn-based RPG, Clair Obscure: Expedition 33. The combat looks a little Persona-y (which is of course a big plus), but the fantasy world is based on the setting and paintings of 19th century France. Color us intrigued, especially after looking at the impressive 3D world map.

Ninja Gaiden 4

Team Ninja revealed the surprise return of the Ninja Gaiden series with Ninja Gaiden 4. The action-adventure series began life on the original NES back in the 1980s, but has laid dormant for over a decade since the release of Ninja Gaiden 3 in 2012 on Xbox 360. Team Ninja have partnered with action-game veterans PlatinumGames for a new entry, and a new protagonist (though series protagonist Ryu is also playable in all his legendary glory). Fans and newcomers can catch up on the series with the newly remastered Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, out now on PC and Xbox.

Release: Fall 2025
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox App
