Just two weeks after the start of Season 1, Marvel Rivals has added a new special event, The Spring Festival. Players can enjoy a special soccer-inspired game mode and earn a unique costume for Star-Lord.

Spring Festival is better known as Lunar New Year outside of China. The new costumes and MVP animations clearly reflect the fanciful garb, red and yellow colors, drums, and Chinese dragons of the cultural event.

The new mode is Clash of Dancing Lions. Two teams of three players can choose among three heroes: Black Widow, Iron Fist, and Star-Lord. Each hero has only their special movement abilities, from Black Widow’s sprint to Star-Lord’s limited flight.

Players will need to use their abilities, and some coordination, to move the ball into the opposing team’s goal. First team to 10 points wins, or until time runs out.

As with the previous limited-time event, players will complete daily missions to earn a unique currency and unlock special rewards. Players will earn a magical dye, Danqing, used to paint a heroic picture. Players can earn nameplates, sprays, and at the end, the unique Lion’s Mane costume for Star-Lord.

The other two costumes for Black Widow and Iron Fist can be purchased in the store for a limited time. The Marvel Rivals Spring Festival event, and the new costumes, are available until February 14.

Marvel Rivals is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
