August means back to school, but it’s also time for the biggest Genshin Impact update of the year. Genshin Impact 5.0, “Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn,” adds the Pyro nation of Natlan, alongside three new characters, on August 28.

Natlan is themed with the element of Pyro. It’s known as the Nation of War, and home to a gladiatorial stadium called the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. It’s also home to a race of dragon-like creatures called Saurians, who live alongside the locals.

Players can earn the ability to transform into Saurians. Each Saurian features a different ability, such as tunneling or surfing.

The people of Natlan are divided by tribes, with three of the six tribes available with 5.0. The Tribal Chronicles replace the usual Story Quests for this nation.

The three new characters are all from Natlan, though none are actually Pyro element. Kachina is a four-star Geo polearm wielder, and uses her riding device to scale cliffs and pound enemies. Kinich is a 5-star Dendro with a claymore and a dragon companion. Mualani is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user who can mount her shark surfboard on water, or land.

Players can freely acquire Kachina by completing Act 1 of Natlan’s Archon Quest. Mualani and Kachina will we be available in the first Event Wish, while Kinich will arrive after.

In order to begin Natlan’s Archon Quest, players will need to reach Adventure Rank 28, and have completed Liyue’s Archon Quests.

Genshin’s fourth anniversary will arrive next month, so expect lots of juicy events and rewards, including a daily login event with up to 10 Intertwined Fate to claim.

Genshin Impact is free to download on PC, PlayStation, and mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
