Gameloft’s The Oregon Trail remake is getting physical Deluxe Editions exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Switch on July 18 ($39.99).

The Oregon Trail: Deluxe Edition includes the game, the Cowboys and Critters DLC, and three exclusive art cards.

The remake is also newly arriving on GOG and the Epic Games Store for PC this week. To celebrate, all PC platforms will be discounted 40% off ($17.99), including Steam.

The Oregon Trail remake originally released in 2021 for Apple Arcade.

The remake provides a modern twist by maintaining the roguelike, historical gameplay of surviving a dangerous journey across 19th century North America, while fixing historical inaccuracies and improving representation. For example, Native Americans now play a much larger role in the story, and are included as playable characters. Oh, and obviously it has way better graphics!

And yes, you can still die of dysentery.

An entire generation of gamers grew up with The Oregon Trail as one of the premiere educational games we could play at school. It remained a popular school-game experience for over a decade. And it involves hunting, and death! Definitely more fun than learning how to type quickly.

The Oregon Trail is also available digitally on Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. It’s rated E10+ with Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Crude Humor, Mild Language, and Mild Violence.
