Few franchises scream classic beat ’em up like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Game Mill Entertainment and Cradle Games have ported the 2017 TMNT arcade game in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants, out now on PC and consoles ($29.99).

Wrath of the Mutants is a side-scrolling beat ’em up that supports up to four player local co-op with each of the Turtles. Each Turtle has a unique special attack they can unleash to defeat enemies, and special power-ups summon ally mutants to help in battle.

The expanded port adds three new stages and six new boss battles.

The Turtles have gone through multiple phases, eras, and iterations over the decades. Wrath of the Mutants is based on the 2012 Nickelodeon TV show, including the original voice actors. The successful series ran for five years and over 100 episodes.

Turtles fans are eating pretty well lately. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a fabulous retro-inspired beat ’em up that released in 2022, and Splintered Fate is a made-for-mobile roguelike adventure coming to Switch.

For a history of older Turtles games, check out The Cowabunga Collection, which features over a dozen TMNT games from the 80s and early 90s. Turtles in Time (1991) has become the blueprint for modern beat ’em ups such as Wrath of the Mutants and Shredder’s Revenge.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants is out now on PC (Steam), PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox, and rated E10+.
