Square Enix has released a new trailer for highly anticipated sequel/remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
The trailer showcases returning heroes Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barret, alongside new additions Yuffie and Red XIII (Yuffie also appeared in the PlayStation 5 enhanced Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade in an exclusive DLC adventure).
The heroes adventure beyond the city of Midgar, as they seek to put a stop to the mega corporation Shinra and defeat the villainous Sephiroth.
The brief, minute-long trailer also teases glimpses of familiar events from the original game, such as the Junon ceremony, the Nibelheim Incident, and the Terror of the Deep boss fight.
Another main party member, Cait Sith, isn’t shown in the trailer, but Square Enix has released new official images and screenshots showcasing the cat-robot, complete with giant Moogle companion.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a direct sequel to 2020’s Final Fantasy Remake, continuing the story of the seminal RPG from 1997. It’s the second of three planned games that remake Final Fantasy 7.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake has sold over 7 million copies worldwide since its release on PlayStation 4. Rebirth will launch as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, however.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will release on February 29 on PlayStation 5. It’s rated T for Teen.
