The lifecycle of a trading card game can be exhaustingly fast. While Lorcana’s second set, Rise of the Floodborn, only recently launched, Ravensburger has announced the third set, Into the Inklands, arriving next year.

Into the Inklands will first appear at local game stores on February 23, 2024, and at mass market retailers on March 8, 2024.

The upcoming expansion adds a whole new type of card: locations. Location cards are played sideways and feature, well, locations from animated Disney films such as Motonui from Moana. Some locations provide bonuses for being played, while others require characters to “visit” them to activate their abilities.

Among the 200 new cards are new characters Pluto, Scrooge McDuck, and Kit Cloudkicker from TaleSpin.

As with Rise of the Floodborn, this expansion will release with two starter decks, a new Illumineer’s Trove, a gift set, and the standard booster packs and boxes.

The Starter Decks are Amber/Emerald and Sapphire/Ruby combinations, and feature Peter Pan and Perdita, and Scrooge and Moana on the covers. New playmats feature Moana and Stich.

Disney Lorcana launched last Summer to rave reviews and a frenzy to purchase cards. Ravensburger has since re-released the first set, The First Chapter, and increased production to help alleviate out of stock issues, scalpers, and a runaway second-hand market. It’s a great game that fits nicely between the more simple Pokémon TCG and intimidatingly vast Magic: The Gathering.
