A trailer for the next game in one of gaming’s most popular series of all time, Grand Theft Auto, will release in a matter of weeks.

In an official post, president and co-founder of Rockstar Games Sam Houser revealed that the first trailer for the next Grant Theft Auto (presumably named Grand Theft Auto 6, though technically the eighth overall), will release in early December.

December also marks the company’s 25th anniversary.

Next month marks the 25th anniversary of Rockstar Games. Thanks to the incredible support of our players worldwide, we have had the opportunity to create games we are truly passionate about.

Without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us.

In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.

We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.

Grand Theft Auto 5, which released a decade ago, is the second best-selling video game of all time (with nearly 200 million copies sold), behind only Minecraft.

Thanks to Grand Theft Auto Online, GTA 5 continues to rank among the top ten most played games on Steam alone. Since GTA 5, Rockstar has developed and released only one other game, another mega-big open world sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.

Note that Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced in 2016 with a release date of 2017. The game was delayed twice, and released in October 2018 on consoles, and in 2019 on PC.

Rockstar Games is known for making gigantic, culturally relevant, Mature-rated, big-budget, open world adventures, and none more popular than Grand Theft Auto. They infamously take their time on these big games, and GTA 6 has been a long time coming.
