When it comes to Nintendo Directs, this season’s was more muted than most. Much of the news centered around some (admittedly great-looking) indie RPGs, DLC expansions, and high-profile remakes. I’m personally quite excited to see a release date for the Suikoden-inspired retro-RPG, Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes.

The biggest news is the reveal of the Princess Peach game that was only teased during the last Direct, Princess Peach: Showtime!, with an official gameplay trailer, and release date.

See below for all the new announcements.

Princess Peach: Showtime!

The leader of Mushroom Kingdom stars in her own adventure. In Princess Peach: Showtime!, Peach and her new ally Stella run afoul of wicked new villains at the Sparkle Theater. Armed with Stella’s magic ribbon, Peach can transform into different costumes to gain new abilities, and change the gameplay, such as Detective Peach, Chef Peach, and Kung Fu Peach.

The 2004 GameCube sequel to Paper Mario (itself a psuedo-continuation of Super Mario RPG) is often considered the best in the series, featuring a fun combination of turn-based RPG battles within a Mario-world entirely made of paper.
The remake’s announcement was the big tease at the end of the Direct, so expect more news in the next Nintendo Direct.
